Neurogenesis
The generation of new neurons, primarily within the hippocampus, throughout adulthood.
Neurogenomics
The study of how genes influence the development, structure, function, and disorders of the nervous system. In psychedelic medicine, neurogenomics helps explain individual differences in neuroplasticity, resilience, psychiatric vulnerability, and therapeutic response.
Neuroplasticity
The brain's capacity to reorganize neural networks through experience.
Nonmaleficence
The ethical principle of avoiding harm. Clinicians have a duty to minimize foreseeable physical, psychological, cultural, and spiritual risks.
Norepinephrine
A neurotransmitter and hormone involved in arousal, attention, vigilance, stress responses, and autonomic nervous system activation.
