Psilocybin
A naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in over 200 species of mushrooms. After ingestion, psilocybin is rapidly converted to psilocin, the active metabolite responsible for its psychoactive effects. Psilocybin is being investigated for depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and end-of-life distress.
Psychiatric Screening
Evaluation of current and past mental health history, psychiatric diagnoses, trauma history, substance use, medications, and psychological readiness to determine treatment suitability.
Psychoplastogen
A compound that promotes structural and functional neural plasticity.
Psychosis
A condition involving impaired reality testing that may include hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, or severely disorganized behavior.
